Happy Halloween! Gimme some candy! (Preferably chocolate)

Happy Halloween! Gimme chocolate!

If you’ve been a reader of my past food posts, such as this recipe post for vegan chocolate chia pudding, you know I don’t have a big sweet tooth. Usually, I don’t crave candy but when there is a stocked candy bowl near me, it beckons me with its sugary, siren call and I can’t resist eating a piece or two (or twelve) of something chocolate.

I’m not alone, according to the National Confectioners Association, chocolate treats are the clear winner in the preferred Halloween candy haul. (Candy corn comes in second, ew.)

Since I’m not one of the 75% of U.S. households that plan to hand out candy tonight, I thought I’d share these Halloween treats instead:

However you choose to celebrate it, have a safe and happy Halloween! (And, don’t forget to brush your teeth after eating your sugary treats!)

It’s beginning to look a lot like… Halloween!

Spooky Halloween jack o'lantern handcrafted soap

Did October sneak up on you like it did on me? It seems like just yesterday we were having summer block parties and lounging on the beach

Well, that handcrafted soap genius Christine has been busy thinking about fall and has created these spooktacular pumpkin spice scented jack o’lantern-shaped soaps for the Emmet Street Creations Etsy store. These little bundles of cuteness come in scary or not-so-scary options to suit your Halloween celebrating mood. (I’ll take the not-so-scary option, please. I’m scary enough in the morning!)

These handmade Halloween pumpkin spice soaps would be the perfect addition to Halloween party goody bags or to simply add a bit of Halloween whimsy to your shower. Be sure to get yours soon, the pumpkin spice harvest season has a limited supply!
