Spring has arrived!

Even though the Spring equinox officially happened on March 20it’s taken a while for northern Ohio to start shedding its winter coat.

It shouldn’t be a suprise to anyone to learn–given my account of struggling with the “winter blues“–that Spring is my favorite season. The days are longer, I actually get to see the sun and everyone seems to be in a better mood. Maybe it’s the optimist in me, but watching the new bits of green poking up from the soil and sprouting from the trees makes me feel renewed and like anything is possible.

I took a little walk around the house and snapped some pictures of things that bring me the most joy this time of year.

Farmers getting their fields ready to plant tasty things I’ll get to enjoy in the summer:

Peonies! I can’t wait for them to bloom so I can take some to work and enjoy their scent at my desk:

Wild violets growing in my lawn:

Hyacinths! I love how they bring a pop of color to my garden so early in the season:

And hostas! They’ll look really lush later this summer. If I’m lucky, the deer will leave them alone and I’ll get some flowers, too!

I can’t wait until I’m able to get out and clean things up and make my garden shine. I see lots of mulch in my future.
